Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (hereinafter "Terms") set forth the conditions for using all services (hereinafter "the Service") provided by BooLab (URL: https://boolab.net, hereinafter "the Site"). All users (hereinafter "Users") of the Service are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.

Article 1 (Scope of Application)

  1. These Terms apply to all use of the Site, including browsing, account registration, posting features, and any other service usage.
  2. Any separate rules or guidelines established by the Site shall constitute part of these Terms.
  3. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and separate rules, the separate rules shall prevail.

Article 2 (Definitions)

The following terms used in these Terms are defined as follows:

  1. "The Service" refers to all services provided by the Site, including article viewing, Boo posts (complaint and feedback submissions), the empathy feature ("I agree!" button), the points and level system, and all other related services.
  2. "Boo Post" refers to complaints, improvement requests, and feedback submitted by Users regarding products or services.
  3. "AI Content" refers to articles, analysis comments, summaries, digests, and other content generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
  4. "Points" refers to Boo Points (BP) awarded to Users based on their activities on the Site.

Article 3 (User Registration)

  1. Users may register an account using OAuth authentication via Google or GitHub.
  2. By registering, Users consent to the collection of email addresses and display names provided through OAuth authentication.
  3. Users warrant that their registration information is accurate and shall keep it up to date at all times.
  4. Creating multiple accounts by a single User is prohibited.
  5. The operator may refuse or revoke account registration in the following cases:
    • If the User has previously had their account suspended or deleted for violating these Terms
    • If the registration information contains false statements
    • If the operator deems registration otherwise inappropriate

Article 4 (User-Generated Content)

  1. The original text of Boo posts submitted by Users is never published on the web. Post content is used only for AI-based statistical analysis, and only anonymized statistical summaries are made available to readers.
  2. User-generated content may be used for the following purposes. By submitting a post, Users are deemed to have consented to such use:
    • Automated classification, sentiment analysis, and statistical processing by AI
    • Automated content review through AI moderation
    • Inclusion in weekly AI digests as anonymized statistics (original text is not disclosed; only AI-generated summaries are used)
    • Aggregation of anonymized statistical data for each product or service
    • Anonymized statistical data may be used in business reports (original posts and personally identifiable information are never disclosed to businesses)
    • Service improvement and research and development
  3. Copyright of user-generated content belongs to the User; however, Users grant the Site a free, perpetual license to use the content within the scope defined in the preceding paragraph.
  4. Posts are automatically reviewed by AI moderation. Posts containing personal information, defamation, spam, or similar content may be withheld or rejected.

Article 5 (Prohibited Activities)

Users shall not engage in the following activities when using the Service:

  1. Posting personal information: Posting information that can identify oneself or a third party, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses
  2. Defamation and discriminatory expressions: Posting defamatory, insulting, or discriminatory statements about specific individuals, companies, or organizations
  3. Posting false information: Intentionally posting information that is factually incorrect or misleading
  4. Spam: Promotion of own products or services, posting affiliate links, repetitive posting of identical content, etc.
  5. Intellectual property infringement: Infringing on the copyrights, trademarks, patents, or other intellectual property rights of third parties
  6. Unauthorized access and system interference: Unauthorized access to the Site's servers or networks, placing excessive load on systems, or exploiting security vulnerabilities
  7. Violent or sexual content: Posting content that promotes violence or obscene material
  8. Violation of laws: Actions that violate the laws of Japan or the laws of the User's country of residence
  9. Impersonation: Pretending to be another person or organization, or unauthorized use of another User's account
  10. Other: Any other actions deemed inappropriate by the operator

Article 6 (Account Suspension and Deletion)

  1. The operator may suspend or delete a User's account without prior notice if it determines that the User falls under any of the following:
    • Violation of the prohibited activities in these Terms
    • Discovery of fraudulent use of multiple accounts
    • Discovery of fraudulent point acquisition
    • Actions that obstruct the operation of the Site
    • Other cases where the operator deems necessary for the sound operation of the Service
  2. If an account is deleted, all points, levels, badges, and similar benefits awarded to the User shall be forfeited and cannot be restored.
  3. Users agree that the operator has the right to delete accounts deemed inappropriate.

Article 7 (AI Content)

  1. All or part of the articles, analysis comments, weekly digests, and other content on the Site is generated by AI.
  2. Analysis comments by AI characters (Masaki, Jules, Tsuyoshi, Daichi, etc.) are produced by fictional AI-generated characters and do not represent the views of any real person.
  3. AI content is provided for informational purposes only and is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or current.

Article 8 (Advertising)

  1. The Site contains display advertising through Google AdSense and affiliate advertising (Amazon, Rakuten, etc.).
  2. Articles containing affiliate advertising will clearly indicate this at the beginning of the article in accordance with applicable advertising disclosure regulations.
  3. Advertising display may be personalized using browsing information and cookies based on Google AdSense policies.

Article 9 (Points and Level System)

  1. The Site may establish a system to award points (Boo Points/BP) based on User activities.
  2. Conditions for point awards, level-ups, badge acquisition, etc. shall be separately determined by the Site and may be changed without prior notice.
  3. Points are valid only within the Site and cannot be redeemed for cash. However, points may be exchangeable for rewards through reward programs established by the Site.
  4. If fraudulent point acquisition is discovered, the operator may cancel the relevant points and suspend the account.
  5. The points, levels, badges, and similar systems may be changed or terminated without prior notice for service improvement purposes.

Article 10 (Intellectual Property Rights)

  1. Intellectual property rights related to the Site's design, logos, articles, AI content, software, etc. belong to the operator or the legitimate rights holders.
  2. Product names, company names, logos, etc. displayed on the Site are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners and are used solely for descriptive purposes.
  3. Product images are obtained through authorized APIs (Amazon PA-API, Rakuten API, etc.) or official manufacturer press kits.
  4. Users may not reproduce, repost, modify, or redistribute the Site's content beyond the scope of private use.

Article 11 (Analytics and Cookie Usage)

  1. The Site uses the following tools to collect access information for service improvement:
    • Google Analytics (GA4): Statistical information such as page views, session duration, and conversions
    • Sentry: Error monitoring and performance metrics collection
  2. Session cookies (JWT) are used to maintain authentication functionality.
  3. Google AdSense may use cookies for the delivery of personalized advertising.

Article 12 (Changes, Interruption, and Termination of Service)

  1. The operator may change, interrupt, or terminate all or part of the Service in the following cases:
    • System maintenance or updates
    • Force majeure events such as natural disasters, power outages, or communication failures
    • Other cases where the operator determines that providing the Service is difficult
  2. In the event of service termination, the operator will endeavor to provide reasonable advance notice.

Article 13 (Amendments to Terms)

  1. The operator may amend these Terms without prior notice to Users when deemed necessary.
  2. Amended Terms shall take effect from the time they are published on the Site.
  3. Users who continue to use the Service after amendments are made shall be deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms.

Article 14 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

  1. The interpretation and application of these Terms shall be governed by the laws of Japan.
  2. In the event of a dispute arising in connection with the Service, the court having jurisdiction over the location of the operator shall be the exclusive court of first instance.
